UMM Team

Ulash Dunlap, Creator and Editor, Understand My Mind

The concept of UMM developed after years of working in the mental health field, teaching, attending numerous conferences, and writing articles. After continuous nagging from my friends and family on wanting to know more about current mental health trends, the concept of UMM formed.  I am a British Indian woman, born in London (UK), currently residing in San Francisco, California.

I am a full-time psychotherapist (Licensed Marriage Family Therapist), teacher, mother to a toddler, wife, trainer, consultant and writer.  When I am not working, I enjoy presenting on mental health topics across the country and world.  I am a foodie, I like to read everything and anything, entertain my son and enjoy being a social butterfly!

I hope UMM will inspire you to understand and research more into how our mind is affected by everything!

Lisa Jancarik, Assistant Editor, Understand My Mind

I don’t know which I love more: reading well-developed scientific content or rendering it more accessible to the general public. My undergraduate degree in cell biology and my experience in the medical field have made me comfortable with fairly technical scientific material. I’ve also been a staff writer for a Fortune 500 company. I’m a freelance copywriter, and I couldn’t resist Ulash’s invitation to be a part of creating Understand My Mind. I’m a native Pittsburgher, the best spot in the universe to enjoy both paleontology and pierogies! When not struggling to keep up with my active five-year-old daughter, I like to read anything I can get my hands on, visit museums and watch ice hockey. Lisa
